FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: in the method and device for detecting the place of pulsed mechanical effect on an equipment component (2) operation noise in that component (2) is continuously detected using several sensors (4s) fitted on the component (2), in which the operation noise is converted to a measurement signal (M), subject to conversion in first time windows (Δt1). Based on the obtained first transformants, a first evaluation function (K1,s) is output, which indicates absence of pulsed mechanical effect on the equipment component (2). According to the invention, when detecting effect in second shorter time windows (Δt2) using the same algorithms, second transformants and second evaluation functions (K2,s) are output respectively, on the basis of which the time moment (t5) in which the sound signal generated as a result of the effect reaches the sensor (4S) is determined. The effect is accurately determined based on the difference in delay times of sensors (4S).
EFFECT: more accurate determination of the place of effect.
