SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine average wavelength of narrow-band optical radiation without using a spectrum dispersing device, including when mapping distribution of radiation wavelength on a surface. A two-channel or multiple-channel recording device or photographic camera is used, the spectral sensitivity ratio in channels in the spectral range to be measured of which is a monotonic function with known behaviour. The average radiation wavelength for the given measurement is determined from the ratio of signal values in corresponding channels.
EFFECT: easier determination of average wavelength of radiation concentrated in nanometer spectral widths.
