FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of processing radioactive carbon-containing substances through flameless combustion, on the first step of which flameless combustion of the radioactive carbon-containing wastes is carried out in molten carbonates of alkali metals in the presence of lead oxide at 750-900°C with formation of secondary gases contaminated with caesium radionuclides etc. over the surface of the molten mass. At the second step the secondary gases are passed through the molten mixture of carbonates of alkali metals at temperature below 550°C. To increase its degree of purity from radionuclides, the secondary gas is passed through the molten mixture of carbonates of alkali metals using a bubbling device in form of small bubbles.
EFFECT: longer service life of gas-cleaning filters, lower overall expenses, increased safety of processing carbon-containing radioactive substances.
