FIELD: treatment of radioactive waste.
SUBSTANCE: treatment is performed at temperature from 750 to 900°C in melt of one of carbonates of alkali metals or their mixtures with the presence of lead oxide. Lead oxide is introduced in the mentioned melt in the amount that makes 1-40% from melt mass. Formed restored lead may be used for preparation of lead oxide by means of its oxidising with oxygen-containing gas.
EFFECT: method allows to simplify control of radioactive carbon-containing waste catalytic combustion process and to exclude the possibility of radioactive substances and melt ingress into environment.
