FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: nonlinear optical composite contains nanoparticles with a semiconductor nucleus and a metallic shell. The nucleus of the nanoparticles is made from a semiconductor with deep impurity levels in the band gap. The energy gap between the bottom of the conduction band and impurity levels does not exceed the energy of photons of the working spectral range of the composite. During radiation exposure, there is saturation of extrinsic absorption in the nucleus of the nanoparticles, which results in increase in the absorption section and scattering of the entire nanoparticle as a result of increase in amplitude of plasmon resonance.
EFFECT: lower energy threshold for nonlinear optical composite.
