FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: plasmatron for plasma treatment of objects has a centre electrode 2, coaxial with a cylindrical external electrode 1, an electric insulator 3 and a power supply. The insulator lies coaxially between the external and centre electrodes. A discharge channel which has a near and a far end forms between the centre electrode and the insulator. On the far end of the discharge channel there is an inlet opening 6 for inlet of plasma-supporting gas into the discharge channel. At the near end, the insulator projects outside the boundaries of the outer surface of the external electrode in form of a radially placed ring 20. In another version the plasmatron can have two external electrodes and two insulators which lie on both sides of the centre electrode and parallel with the centre electrode. The method of obtaining a plasma jet involves using one of the said versions of the plasmatron, feeding plasma-supporting gas through the inlet opening, feeding a chemically active compound through inlet opening 6 and/or through the centre electrode 1 and applying voltage ranging from 1 to 100 kV between the centre electrode 1 and the external electrode 2.
EFFECT: more efficient operation of the plasmatron.
