FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: transformer plasmatron comprises transformer and closed water-cooled discharge chamber of dielectric material with units of gas supply and exhaust arranged at opposite sections of chamber. Gas supply unit is equipped with swirler. Transformer is arranged in the form of open magnetic conductor, and discharge chamber is arranged between its ends, distance between which is more than 5 mm. Method for realisation of electric charge and production of plasma in it includes gas passing through discharge chamber and exposure of gas in chamber to electric field. Electric discharge is realised, and plasma is produced in it by means of electric breakthrough between ends of magnetic conductor at the pressure from 10-1-10-2 mm of mercury column to atmospheric one. At the same time length of discharge reduces twice.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption and increased efficiency of thermal treatment.
