FIELD: power engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to electro-chemical generators of current (ECG) on alkaline fuel elements (FE), particularly to auxiliary functional installations of FE maintenance, namely to installations for purification of air, used in FE as oxidant, from carbon dioxide. According to the invention, the procedure for purification of air from carbon dioxide for alkaline hydrogen-air fuel elements consists in purification of preliminary humidified air in electro-chemical de-carbonator, wherein CO2 is chemically absorbed with solution of hydroxide of alkaline metal, while de-sorption of CO2 is performed chemically from a porous catalysed electrode. An electro-chemical cell is used as de-carbonator where a cathode of alkaline fuel element functions as a negative electrode, while an anode of alkaline electrolytic cell functions as a positive electrode. De-carbonator is fed from am external current source of voltage 0.7… 1.48 V.

EFFECT: developing continuous inertia-free procedure of deep purification of air from carbon dioxide facilitating complete elimination of not-productive losses of hydrogen, while ensuring utilisation of ECG with alkaline fuel elements in any premises.
