FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to casting. Proposed method comprises feeding liquid metal into two-stage crystalliser pan in jets directed downward towards horizontal plane, forming ingot crust and pulling out from crystalliser pan. Crystalliser pan top stage cross section is smaller than that of bottom stage. At crystalliser pan first stage outlet, ingot crust along wider faces is heated, eroded by liquid metal jet fed from teeming cup and bled by straining the crust for liquid metal to flow into second stage arranged below. Ingot crust is formed in crystalliser pan second stage along wider faces to allow accretion of crust ingot of the first and second stages of crystalliser pan, along wider faces. At the stages joint, at the center of wider faces, there are semi-spherical ledges with radius of 0.005-0.015 of top stage radius. Metal feed immersion cup has two outlet holes inclined downward at the angle to horizon.
EFFECT: higher quality of ingots.
