FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in welding particularly thin-wall shells and tube billets from stainless steel. First, plastic deformation of welded surfaces is performed by rollers with their upsetting as well as deformation of micro ledges to produce preset roughness. Note here that deformed metal is transferred along the billet end face towards inner surface to produce circular collar thereon. Then shells are fitted in device intended to center their outer diametres with a clearance to allow their co-melting. Shells are jointed together by welding at all-around points. Finally, continuous welding of the joint is performed.
EFFECT: no micro defects, higher quality of welded seam.
