FIELD: information technology.

SUBSTANCE: device for destroying information from optical and magneto-optical discs has: a housing, an actuating mechanism, a connection device, a control unit and an optical sensor. The actuating mechanism has drive roller-gear connected to an electric motor, two gear wheels, a rocker arm, two working rollers, a second cutter support with cutters, a table, one or more disc brakes and a power conical spring. The table has a centre hole whose diametre is equal to or greater than outer diametre of a bushing mounted at the bottom of the housing and the centre hole is worn onto the bushing. The power conical spring is attached through its base to the bottom of the housing and coaxially with the axis of the housing. The top end of the said spring rests on the lower surface of the table and this part of the housing is used a system for collecting dust and cuttings. The control unit has a voltage converter, a power switch, a power indicator, a voltage divider, a microcontroller, a recording device, a current sensor and a controlled switch.

EFFECT: possibility of destroying discs with information during storage, more reliable destruction and information classification level, protection from unauthorised access to information and recording of the number of destroyed discs.
