FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to X-ray diagnostics. On an axial T2-weighted image, a measuring rectangle of MP-tomographic scanner software is applied on an investigated cyst so that two sides of the rectangle are parallel to a sagittal axis of a tomogram; other two sides are parallel to an axial axis of the tomogram, and the sides of the rectangle touches the most distant borders of the cyst. A sagittal (A) and axial (B) projection size of the cyst is determined in each scan where the cyst is visualised. For each scan, the A/B ratio is evaluated. From the axial projection size of the cyst on all scans, minimum (Bmin) size of the cyst is specified. In case Bmin is less or equal to 1.7 cm, and the A/B ratio decreases from the previous to following scan from a caudal to cranial end of the cyst in most scans, the posttraumatic cyst is diagnosed. In case Bmin exceeds 1.7 cm, and the A/B ratio increases from the previous to following scan from the caudal to cranial end of the cyst in most scans, postinsult cyst is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method extends the range of products for differential diagnostics postinsult and posttraumatic cerebral cysts.
