FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a polyester container with enhanced gas-barrier properties, suitable for storing carbonated soft drinks. The invention describes a container which contains a polyester composition with intrinsic viscosity of 0.65-1.0 dl/g, which contains polyester prepared using a first polycondensation catalyst selected from group 3, 4, 13 and 14 metals and a catalyst residue of the first polycondensation catalyst and a chemically active additive which enhances the gas barrier, in amount of 0.01-10 wt %. The active additive used is a compound of formula R1OOC-AR-COOR2, where AR is phenylene and naphthalene, R1 and R2 denote a C1-C10 alkyl, phenyl and a naphthyl group.
EFFECT: proposed container contains a barrier additive which increases shelf life of its contents by 20% compared to a container without the additive.
