FIELD: process engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water disinfection and can be used in water supply systems. Proposed method consists in irradiating stationary or moving fluids by UV-radiation of semiconductor LEDs. Note here that radiation is introduced in fluid to be decontaminated through waveguide optical window or several windows transparent for LED UV radiation. Coat with coefficient of reflection of 0.6 to 0.7 is applied on waveguide inner surface while LED radiation is introduced into waveguide at an angle to its axis to allow multiple reflection of radiation from waveguide inner walls. Proposed device comprises at least one UV-range LED and at least one flexible optical waveguide and power supply. Note here that radiation is introduced in fluid to be decontaminated through waveguide optical window or several windows transparent for LED UV radiation while LED radiation is introduced into waveguide at an angle to its axis to allow multiple reflection of radiation from waveguide inner walls.

EFFECT: reduced power consumption at sufficient radiation dose.
