FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to disinfection of water or some other liquid infected with pathogenic microflora. The method of disinfecting water with ultraviolet radiation involves exposure of a stationary or moving volume of water to be disinfected to ultraviolet radiation of semiconductor light-emitting diodes through an optical window or several optical windows in the water pipeline which are transparent to ultraviolet radiation with scattering of radiation from the light-emitting diodes on corrugated sections of the water pipeline. The inner surface of the water pipeline has a coating with reflection coefficient of 0.6-0.7. The device for realising the method has a water pipeline section having an optical window or several optical windows which are transparent to ultraviolet radiation, at least one semiconductor light-emitting diode which emits in the ultraviolet range and a power supply. On the inner wall of the water pipeline there are undulating sections which are made in form of corrugations with spacing between 0.5 and 1 mm and height between 0.5 and 1 mm.
EFFECT: invention reduces power required for ultraviolet radiation sources while maintaining the required radiation dose.
