FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic compounds and specifically to novel N-2-(2-pyridyl)ethylchitosan and synthesis method thereof. The said compound is obtained by reacting chitosan with aqueous solution of 2-vinylpyridine in the presence of hydrochloric acid in molar ratio 2-vinylpyridine: chitosan: hydrochloric acid equal to (2-4):1:1.The reaction is carried out at room temperature until formation of a gel. The gel is then heated to 68-72°C for 24-48 hours. The cooled reaction mass is treated with aqueous hydrochloric acid solution. Deposition and subsequent hot extraction with water-soluble alcohols or ketones and drying are carried out.
EFFECT: obtained novel N-2-(2-pyridyl)ethylchitosan has high sorption capacity.
