FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to pyrotechnic delay devices. According to the invention, the delay device (10) has a strip for setting the delay time (14) and a calibration strip (20) deposited on a substrate (12). The strip for setting the delay time and the calibration strip contain energy materials which can contain particles of nanosized materials, e.g. fuel and oxidant, deposited as separate layers. The method of making delay devices involves depositing on the substrate (12) a strip for setting the delay time (14), having a signal input point (14d) and a signal output point (14e), and depositing a calibration strip (20) on the said substrate or another substrate. The strip for setting the delay time (14) and the calibration strip (20) have identical compositions or are configured differently, e.g. by varying thickness of the strip in order to ensure the same burning speed. The calibration strip (20) is set on fire and its burning speed is recorded. The strip for setting the delay time (14) is adjusted using a control structure in order to attain the desired delay time, preferably based on that the burning speed of the strip for setting the delay time (14) largely coincides with the recorded burning speed of the calibration strip (20).
