FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: this device relates to the field of ultrasonic inspection of metal materials. Technical effect is achieved due to the fact that the rails ultrasonic inspection unit includes a set of ultrasonic transducers (UT) and connected with it defectoscopic electronics, defect areas marking device, a contact fluid supply and circulation system, a local immersion bath (LIB) comprising an input and output devices, as well as at least two sets of quick-release sealing devices matched with the shape of the rail, and intended to prevent irreparable loss of water from the LIB, wherein the set of ultrasonic transducers (UT) is at least two multichannel arrays of piezoelectric elements (PE), which are physically multichannel linear grids of piezoelectric elements (sections), which are located on four sides of rail section, and flaw detection device further comprises a software and hardware module, which enables to electronically activate or deactivate certain sections of the grate, creating distribution and shape of acoustic field in LIB, which correspond to type of rail subject to ultrasonic inspection. Invention is intended for control of rails, rods, square billet and pipes.

EFFECT: higher reliability and safety of ultrasonic monitoring of rails, shorter time for readjustment of equipment to another standard size, reduction of negative influence of human factor, reduction of dimensions and weight of samples for calibration.
