FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of mineralising toxic organic compounds directly at the contamination site. The composition based on peroxides of alkali or alkali-earth metals for decontaminating soil from spillage of toxic organic substances is a mixture of peroxides of alkali or alkali-earth metals with a carbonaceous sorbent - catalyst. The subject of the invention is also a method of decontaminating soil from spillage of toxic organic substances involving treating the soil with the said composition.
EFFECT: faster decontamination of soil owing to efficient oxidation of toxic organic substances at their spillage site, as well as avoiding formation of toxic by-products.
