DEVICE FOR SCREWING HEAVY NIPPLES INTO ELECTRODE Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC H05B7/14 

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: device can be used at production of electrodes and nipples, and at successive screwing heavy nipples of over 50 kg weight into electrodes of 650…750 mm diametre. The device for screwing heavy nipples into an electrode consists of a chute-slide with incline 1/6. To reduce depth of nipple screwing a direction of the chute-slide is changed into a horizontal; also the nipple is maintained concentrically to a nipple seat at distance of nipple screwing depth by means of a two-taper wedge installed between the chute-slide and the nipple; the two-taper wedge with its rotating centre is connected via an opening of the bracket with the central opening of the nipple, thus excluding its five motion data. The nipple is screwed with torque from a square via end corrugated surfaces of the rotating centre by holding them down to the nipple end by an advance handle.

EFFECT: facilitating advance of nipple, avoiding distortion and jam in threaded nipple connection, reduced time of screwing due to stable concentric position of nipple.
