FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in railroad transport for aluminothermic welding of joint electric traction coupler to rail lateral surface. Device top mould is intended for ignition and combustion of thermit compound and consists of half-moulds, vertically split, with crucible chamber and sprue hole made therein. Bottom mould is intended for welding. Chute is made under sprue hole in lower mould top part. Said chute in inclined toward rail to direct welding metal jet onto rail lateral surface. Recess is made under said chute at the plate lower mould bears against the rail. Said recess accommodates the end of conductor of joint electric traction coupler with sealing graphite inserts. Said recess is limited, from below, by detachable pan attached to lower mould.
EFFECT: higher quality of welded joint and longer life of proposed device.
