SUBSTANCE: filter is made from sintered silicon carbide particles on whose surface there is porous titanium dioxide layer. A catalytically active material of the following composition is deposited on the porous titanium dioxide layer: 20-50 g V₂O₅ per litre of the filter, 1-50 g WO₃ per litre of the filter, 0.25-1 g Pd per litre of the filter, up to 2 g Pt per litre of the filter. The invention also relates to an installation for releasing diesel engine exhaust gases containing the said filter.

EFFECT: high degree of purity of exhaust gases, longer catalyst life.
