FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an exhaust system for a compression ignition engine comprising a catalysed soot filter. Said catalysed soot filter comprises an oxidation catalyst for treating carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrocarbons (HC) in exhaust gas from a compression ignition engine, wherein said oxidation catalyst is disposed on a filtering substrate, which is a wall-flow filter. Oxidation catalyst comprises: a first zone comprising a platinum group metal (PGM) component selected from the group consisting of a platinum (Pt) component, a palladium (Pd) component, and a combination thereof; an alkaline earth metal component containing magnesium (Mg), calcium (Ca), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba), or a combination of two or more thereof; and a support material containing alumina doped with silica, wherein said alumina is doped with silica in an amount of 0.5 to 15 wt%, wherein said alkaline earth metal component is placed on a support material and said platinum group metal (PMG) component is placed on a support material; a second zone containing a platinum group metal (PGM) component selected from a group consisting of a platinum (Pt) component, a palladium (Pd) component, and a combination thereof, and wherein said first zone and second zone are disposed on said substrate in such a manner that they adjoin each other, the second zone being located upstream of the first zone, and the first zone differs in composition from the second zone. Invention also relates to a vehicle comprising a compression ignition engine and an exhaust system.
EFFECT: technical result is improving catalytic activity without increasing the total amount of platinum and palladium.
