SUBSTANCE: catalysing monolithic base comprises a first porous oxide coating having a length L and a second porous oxide coating, where the second porous oxide coating is disposed in a layer on top of the first porous oxide coating for at least some of the length L, where the first porous oxide coating includes a catalyst composition containing platinum and at least one support material for the platinum, where the second porous oxide coating includes a catalyst composition containing both platinum and palladium and at least one support material for the platinum and the palladium and where the weight ratio of platinum to palladium in the second porous oxide coating is <2. The weight ratio Pt:Pd in the combined first porous oxide coating and the second porous oxide coating is ≥2:1. The invention also relates to an internal combustion engine exhaust system, an internal combustion engine and a method of reducing the possibility or preventing poisoning of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst in an internal combustion engine exhaust system.
EFFECT: obtaining a catalyst with improved activity for oxidative treatment of hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide in exhaust gases.
