FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method involves heating a test sample in form of a square prism (parallelepiped). One of the end and lateral faces of the test sample is heat-insulated from the surrounding medium and the sample is heated through the opposite non-insulated end face using a high-frequency electromagnetic field (microwave radiation) from an alternating-phase multi-slotted antenna (radiator). Change in temperature on the surface of the face which is not heat-insulated and the opposite end face of the test sample is controlled. In another version of the method, only lateral faces of the test sample in form of a prism are heat insulated and change in temperature on faces which are not heat insulated and in the midsection of the test sample in form of a prism is controlled.
EFFECT: higher efficiency and accuracy of determining thermal and physical characteristics of construction materials.
