FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: standard reflector attachment mechanism has a radar reflector in form of a metal sphere suspended through a vertical nylon thread from a horizontal support and a disc with a defined diameter coated with a layer of highly conductive material and placed normal to the thread at a given distance from the top of the sphere. A similar disc is placed at a given distance between the sphere and the underlying surface.

EFFECT: average reduction of standard deviation of scattering cross-section of the standard sphere by 3 dB.
