FIELD: radio engineering.
SUBSTANCE: in step attenuator the input and output is formed with parallel connection of two pieces of transmission line. One of the pieces ("straight" way) includes the diode which is connected at the distance of one forth of the wave length in relation to input and output and shunts the piece as per microwave frequency. The other piece of transmission line ("bypass" way) includes signal attenuation unit connected via diodes to input and output of the device, and to which there connected symmetrically relative to the attenuation unit are additional pieces of transmission line with the length equal to one fourth of the wave length, and each of which is shunted with diode. All the diodes of the device are connected as per direct current in one and the same polarity. There is also control circuit of modes of the device.
EFFECT: reducing losses in pass mode, improving voltage standing-wave ratio during operation of attenuator in pass mode.
