FIELD: microwave engineering.
SUBSTANCE: proposed power limiter that functions to protect receiving-device input against microwave signal of relevant transmitter and outside high-power microwave signal has input and output transmission lines with resonator of length m = 1, 2 ... half-waves in-between, which is built around n = 1, 2 ... intercoupled lines, each being shorted out by at least one diode. Diodes are disposed in k groups , where 1 ≤ k ≤ 2m - 1, at quarter-wavelength distances from resonator ends and between groups. All diodes are connected in same polarity. Device has dc diode circuit. Resonator length differs from relatively precise value of half-waves by 1/8 of wavelength. In order to extend operating frequency range, resonator is provided with series-connected sections of intercoupled microstrip lines at input and output. For reducing power level at which limiting commences, dc diode circuit is provided with detector diode connected in reverse polarity relative to limiting diodes.
EFFECT: reduced initial loss, enhanced permissible input power, and reduced leakage power.
