FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: to determine the severity level of bronchopulmonary dysplasia, computed tomography of the infant's thorax is performed. Five most typical radiographic appearances of bronchopulmonary dysplasia are assessed quantitatively: degree of pulmonary tissue pneumatisation; lobe architectonics of the lung pattern; peribronchial changes in pulmonary tissue; prevalence of pulmonary fibrosis; observed cardiovascular changes: pulmonary hypertension and megalocardia. Each diagnostic character is appraised by points 0 to 3 to be summed up then. The point total 0 to 5 shows mild bronchopulmonary dysplasia. The point total 6 to 10 enables to diagnose moderately severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia. The point total 11 to 15 indicates severe bronchopulmonary dysplasia.
EFFECT: method improves accuracy of determining the severity level of bronchopulmonary dysplasia and allows specifying the case management approach correctly.
