FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: method is based on spectrocolorimetric determination of colour-distinguishing properties of samples of white porcelain from their colour characteristics by measuring reflection spectra of porcelain samples and their presentation in form of colour coordinate values: L* - luminosity, a* - redness, b* - yellowness, of the ICI colorimetric system L*a*b. A database of colour characteristics of white porcelain is created and said data are classified and colour regions of three groups of porcelain are defined: bone porcelain, solid porcelain and porcelain which not classified as white. A mathematical relationship is established for determining classification functions which are characteristic for said groups, from which groups to which the porcelain samples belong can be objectively and accurately determined in order to identify the porcelain product.
EFFECT: invention enables accurate evaluation of white porcelain samples from their association with any given type of porcelain material.
