FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is meant for measuring electric charge of moving mineral particles, specifically for detecting diamonds in diamond-bearing mineral mixtures for their subsequent extraction using an actuating mechanism. The invention can also be used to measure electric charge of mineral particles when investigating processes of electric separation of different ores. First, the invention increases selectivity of separation when picking up signals from mineral particles of different sign, and secondly, increases efficiency of separation by switching from grain-wise supply mode to a flow mode. Selectivity and efficiency in the invention is achieved by changing the shape of the sensitive electrode of the sensor for contactless measurement of electric charge. According to the invention, the shape of the sensitive electrode is such that the internal channel of the sensitive electrode has a varying cross-section. The geometrical shape of the sensitive electrode for all four versions is different.
EFFECT: considerable change in distance from mineral grains to the inner surface of the sensitive electrode of the sensor during movement.
