FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and device for producing optical fibres. The method of producing optical fibre comprises the following steps: drawing fibre from a heated perform by applying a pulling force to the fibre; twisting the fibre during drawing; twisting the fibre on a first twisting roller on a first twisting arc; twisting fibre on a second twisting roller on a second twisting arc; aligning the fibre in the vertical plane perpendicular to axes of the twisting rollers which forces the fibre to pass between a pair of guide rollers before and after twisting the fibre on the said twisting rollers, wherein the axis of rotation of the said guide rollers is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the twisting rollers; axial displacement of the first and second twisting roller relative each other is such that the fibre is forced to turn on surfaces of the first and second twisting rollers under a frictional force.
EFFECT: more efficient fibre twisting due to increased surface of contact between the fibre and the roller.
