Abstract RU 2773163 C2

FIELD: optoelectronics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the production of fiber-optic cable, more specifically, to a system and a method for the production of optical fiber in microgravity. A system for pulling optical fiber includes a sealed case, a preform holder, a furnace, a feeding system, a pulling mechanism, a diameter sensor and a fiber collection mechanism. At the same time, the sealed case serves to prevent the penetration of at least moisture, filled with a dry medium. The preform holder is located inside the sealed case to hold preform material. The furnace is located inside the sealed case for receiving preform material from the preform holder and for heating preform material, from which optical fiber is pulled. The feeding system serves to move preform material from the preform holder into the furnace inside the sealed case. The pulling mechanism is located inside the sealed case and serves to pull optical fiber from preform material in the furnace. The diameter sensor is located inside the sealed case and serves to measure the diameter of optical fiber. The fiber collection mechanism is located inside the sealed case and serves to collect and store optical fiber. A method for pulling optical fiber includes heating preform material in the furnace until preform material reaches a viscous state, pulling optical fiber from preform material in a neck structure to a winding device.

EFFECT: increase in the efficiency of pulling optical fiber using a controlled environment.
