FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: crystal plates made from thermoelectric layered material having a rhombohedral system (AVBVI based solid solutions) are made through directed crystallisation in the field of a vertical temperature gradient. A matrix of vertically aligned graphite plates is used. Each plate has an inlet channel for inlet of molten raw material and a cavity mated in the bottom part with a zigzag channel. The cavity and the zigzag channel have a flat configuration and lie in the same plane. Directed crystallisation is carried out at a rate of more than 0.5 mm/min by lowering temperature of the heater. The obtained crystal plates are characterised by presence of several cleavage planes having virtually the same crystallographic direction with formation of a texture with misalignment angle α≤6° and virtually directed in parallel with the base planes having orientation {0001}.

EFFECT: smaller misalignment angles of cleavage planes.
