FIELD: information technologies.

SUBSTANCE: terminal receives controlled multitude, containing GSM neighbouring cells and/or UMTS neighbouring cells. Terminal works in compression mode and receives at least two sequences of transfer interruption configurations for various purposes of measurement, for instance for "measurements of RSSI in carrier GSM" (GAP1), "initial identification of BSIC GSM" (GAP2) and "repeated confirmation of BSIC GSM" (GAP3). Terminal performs measurements of RSSI for GSM cells using multiple sequences of transfer interruptions configurations, for instance using GAP1, GAP2 and GAP3. Terminal identifies BSIC at least for once GSM cell by detection of total signal on FCCH using multiple sequences of transfer interruption configurations, for instance using GAP2 and GAP3, and decoding of SCH using multiple sequences of transfer interruption configurations, for instance, using GAP2 and GAP3.

EFFECT: using multiple sequences of transfer interruption configurations for measurement of RSSI and identification of BSIC makes it possible for the terminal to complete measurements of cells and to send report earlier, which may improve efficiency.
