SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and a system for indicating a transmission gap pattern sequence (TGPS). The method includes: determining a TGPS combination to be initiated/terminated when one of two communication parties decides to initiate/terminate a TGPS and notifying the other of the two communication parties on an identifier of a TGPS combination to be initiated/terminated; and initiating/terminating, by the other communication party, each TGPS in the corresponding TGPS combination in accordance with the TGPS combination identifier.

EFFECT: indicating TGPS between a base station and user equipment and reducing resource consumption; both communication parties obtain a configured correlation between TGPS and a TGPS combination identifier.
