FIELD: wireless communication equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication and is intended to control a cell identifier in a GSM network, wherein the cell identifier is a base station identification code (BSIC). Device receives from network node a cell identifier for identification of said cell, wherein said cell identifier is an identification code of a base station BSIC, which codes an identifier of said cell, and is formed by at least three sets of bits, wherein the first set of bits of three is the color code of the NCC network, the second set of bits of three is the color code of the base station BCC and the additional third set contains one or more bits.

EFFECT: high efficiency of managing cell identifiers in a GSM network.
