FIELD: veterinary science.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to veterinary science. Method includes detection of overall content of protein and albumins, calculation of globulins content and albumin-globulin coefficient. If all investigated indices are at the optimal level, i.e.: total protein in heifer blood serum - at the level of 71.6-81.6 g/l, albumins - within the limits of 33.0-42.4 g/l, globulins - 30.1-42.3 g/l and albumin-globulin coefficient equal to 0.9-1.2, actively functioning ovaries are diagnosed in heifers, and possibility of subsequent fertilisation is confirmed, and if values of parametres do not achieve optimal values, conclusion is made on reduced functional activity of ovaries in heifers accompanied by irregular cycles.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to easily and accurately determine functional condition of ovaries and to form proper estrous cycles in young animals during pubescence.
