SUBSTANCE: invention refers to veterinary science, particularly to veterinary obstetrics, and may be used for the purpose of express-diagnostics of sexual hunting in cows to determine optimal time of insemination of animals. Method for determining the optimum insemination time in cows and heifers involves examining the saliva of an animal and diagnosing ovulation. Optimum insemination time is diagnosed by applying the test strip with an indicator to the oral mucosa for 30 sec to determine glucose. Color of the indicator is compared with the scale on the tube; ovulation is established when the indicator color changes to dark green.

EFFECT: provides for determination of optimal time of insemination of cows, increased percentage of herd sameness.
