DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUE FOR EARLY DIABETIC RETINOPATHY Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC A61B8/06

Abstract RU 2402272 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to ophthalmology and aims at diagnosis of early diabetic retinopathy in diabetic patients. Colour Doppler Imaging of the ophthalmic artery and the central retinal artery in normoglycemia and hyperglycemia at a glycemic gradient not less than 8 mmol/l: to determine a volumetric blood flow and a vascular resistance index. The examination is carried out with underlying blood pressure (BP) and intraocular pressure (IOP) being equal. The type I diabetic patients showing increase in the volumetric blood flow not less than 68% and decrease in the vascular resistance index more than 10.4% in the ophthalmic artery and increase in the volumetric blood flow not less than 82% and decrease in the vascular resistance index by 7.8% and more in the central retinal artery are diagnosed with early diabetic retinopathy. In the type II diabetic patients, increase in the volumetric blood flow not less than 56% and decrease in the vascular resistance index by 10.13% and more in the ophthalmic artery, and increase in the volumetric blood flow not less than 53% with underlying decrease in the vascular resistance index by 16.09% and more in the central retinal artery, early diabetic retinopathy is diagnosed.

EFFECT: technique allows extending the range of products for prediction of diabetic retinopathy development in diabetic patients when applying an effective, noninvasive and wide applicable method of survey.
