FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ophthalmology and is intended for prediction of diabetic retinopathy development in patients with diabetes mellitus. Reaction of iris dilatation using 2.5% irifrin solution in case of normoglycemia and hyperglycemia with glycemia gradient not less than 7-8 mmole/l at the background of similar AP and IOP. Value of iris amplitude difference is determined in mm. If difference is 0.91 mm and higher in case of type I diabetes mellitus and 0.54 mm and higher in type II diabetes mellitus 35 minutes after dropping in irifrin, development of diabetic retinopathy is predicted.
EFFECT: method allows to extend arsenal of means for prediction of prediction of diabetic retinopathy development in patients with diabetes mellitus using simple non-invasive, available for wide application examination method, for adequate observation of patients in order to treat complications in due time.
