FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: electromagnetic radiation heterodyne spectrometre includes a calibration radiation generator at known frequency, an element which mixes radiation at known frequency from the calibration generator with the analysed radiation at unknown frequency, a device for measuring spectra in the frequency range of the device, a nonlinear working element which is a semiconductor nanostructure with a two-dimensional charged layer with at least two contacts to the two-dimensional charged layer, a nonlinear working element cooling system, as well as a source of magnetic field perpendicular the plane of the two-dimensional charged layer. The nonlinear working element cooling system used is a nitrogen or Peltier cooling system, and the semiconductor nanostructure includes a defect or defects which are any non-uniformity in the topology or parametres of the two-dimensional charged layer or its dielectric surrounding.

EFFECT: higher differential frequency of operation of the heterodyne spectrometre, higher operating temperature, simple working element cooling system and possibility of operation of the device in a magnetic field.
