FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to detectors of electromagnetic radiation of terahertz and infrared ranges based on two-dimensional materials and can be used in devices for obtaining images in said spectral ranges, realizing tasks of thermal imaging and thermography, monitoring the composition of the atmosphere, remote detection of hazardous substances and many others. Essence of the invention consists in the fact that in an electromagnetic radiation detector, comprising a sensitive element made of a two-dimensional material, graphene, equipped with two adjacent metal contacts, boundary between one contact and two-dimensional material is made smooth, and the second boundary is microstructured in the form of a broken line containing acute angles directed by the tips towards the two-dimensional material.
EFFECT: increased sensitivity of the detector, wider range of operating temperatures up to room temperature, wider range of detected wavelengths – from units of micrometers to units of millimeters, possibility of using arbitrary thin-film materials as a sensitive element, including multilayer graphene and graphene with arbitrary value of electronic mobility, with low mobility of the order and less than 103 cm2/(V⋅s).
