FIELD: power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: method is proposed for storage of spent nuclear fuel by means of arrangement of canisters in pond with desalinated water, which are perforated in top part and also filled with desalinated water. Level of water in canisters and pond is maintained below edge of openings due to periodical supply of desalinated water from autonomous reservoir into canisters and pond. Besides it is proposed to supply water into canisters periodically as limit permissible level is achieved in control canisters with maximum value of residual energy release.
EFFECT: improved environmental safety of spend fuel storage.
