FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention describes a method of producing a styrene copolymer with lactic acid from styrene and aqueous solutions of lactic acid, characterised by that the radical-initiated styrene polymerisation process is combined with simultaneous, inter-phase catalysed polycondensation of acid. Combination is carried out by emulsifying styrene in a medium of aqueous solutions of lactic acid in the presence of emulsifying agents - tertiary amines. Vinyl polymerisation is initiated by low-temperature redox systems containing hyrogen peroxide or organic hydroperoxides combined with a metal of varying valency, and the emulsifying agent acts as he inter-phase condensation catalyst.
EFFECT: obtaining a copolymer of bio-nondegradable carbon-chain polymer and a biodegradable hetero-chain polymer of lactic acid.
