FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: polymers have the ability to completely biodegrade in a living organism or natural environment and can be used to create products of a wide range of both medical and household applications. The method for the preparing a catalyst for the synthesis of biodegradable aliphatic polyesters based on α-substituted hydroxyl-containing carboxylic acids and tin-containing salts are carried out by reacting the components in a concentrated aqueous solution of lactic acid in a temperature range of 100-180°C at the initial concentration of tin-containing salts of 5.0-0.01 wt %, the catalyst forming reaction is carried out for 1-5 hours with continuous removal of water. The method is characterized in that the tin salts are selected from the group, in which the anion has volatility in the selected temperature range. In tin-containing salts, 60-80% of the metal cations are selected from the group: Mg (4-13%), Zn (25-35%), Al (5-11%), Sb (20-25%), Mn (1-4%), Co (2%), Cu (1%), Mo (2%), Ni (2%), Bi (50-4%), B (1-2%).

EFFECT: preparation of a catalyst having enhanced catalytic activity in a process for producing biodegradable aliphatic polyesters.
