FIELD: information technologies.
SUBSTANCE: device and method are provided for efficient transfer of service in mobile unit. In method the transfer of service is carried out in mobile unit, which establishes exchange of data by means of point of access (PoA), besides method includes reception of information related to characteristics of new PoA; detection of the fact whether prefix of Internet protocol 6 (IPv6) is available in the new PoA, on the basis of information related to characteristics of the new PoA; and formation of address that should be used by mobile unit as data is exchanged with the new PoA, according to the method, identified on the basis of whether IPv6 is available in the new PoA. Therefore it becomes possible to identify whether IPv6 prefix is available in the new point of access before the message of router annunciation is received.
EFFECT: efficient support of service transfer between various types of communication lines.
