SUBSTANCE: method for processing of multimedia data includes the following stages: part of frame is compared to multiple reference frames, besides part of frame comprises multiple subparts; reference frame is selected for part of frame from multiple reference frames on the basis of comparison; the first one of multiple subparts is compared to the first subset of one or more reference frames selected from multiple reference frames on the basis of selected reference frame for part of frame; and the second one of multiple subparts is compared to the second subset from one or more reference frames selected from multiple reference frames on the basis of selected reference frame for part of frame, besides the first subset differs the second subset.
EFFECT: reduced computational complexity of searching reference frames in video coders.
