FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: base oil contains branched saturated hydrocarbons having at least 18 carbon atoms, content of 14C isotopes from the total number of carbon atoms in the base oil is at least 50% in terms of content of radioactive carbon in the atmosphere in 1950 in accordance with ASTM D 6866. The base oil consists of at least 90 wt % saturated hydrocarbons and content of linear paraffins in the said base oil is less than 10 wt %. Content of condensed polynaphthenes is not more than 0.1% on FIMS and content of mononaphthenes is 5-50% on FIMS and at least 50 wt % saturated hydrocarbons have the interval of the number of carbon atoms of not more than 9, wherein kinematic viscosity of the base oil at 100°C is 3-8 cSt and the base oil has viscosity CCS-30 of not more than 29.797*(KV100)2.7848 cP, and viscosity CCS-35 of not more than 36.108*(KV100)3.069 cP.
EFFECT: said oil has biological origin and meets base oil requirements, wherein action of said oil or components thereof on the environment is more favourable compared to traditional base oil based on crude oil.
