FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to abrasive machining of spherical parts. Machined part and cutting tool are revolved. Prior to machining, part is clamped in preset position relative to sphere centre. Machining is performed by circular cutting tool with its outer diametre equal to the length of chord subtending half the sector of machined spherical surface. Revolving circular cutting tool moves linearly along normal to machined spherical surface in horizontal plane of sphere symmetry and along direction of vector crossing the sphere centre. Linear travel of cutting tool is maintained till contact of its outer circumscribed diametre with central axis of symmetry of the sphere.
EFFECT: higher precision of machining and possibility to produce hollow parts with equidistant outer and inner spherical surfaces.
